But a new assessment has found a shift over the last decade in the socio-economic profile of Africans most likely to be infected with HIV. In 2001 a team led by Dr James Hargreaves of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) looked at studies conducted in sub-Saharan Africa, mostly before 1996, to determine whether there was an association between education levels and HIV infection.
