Sizanani Home Based Care was developed as a non-profit community based program in Soweto, South Africa to assist children (and especially households headed by children!) who become vulnerable or orphaned due to HIV/AIDS. Sizanani provides support and human services to orphans and vulnerable children thereby enabling them to remain in their community with neighbors or extended family. Caregivers from Sizanani provide home care and act as advocates for these children and their family members to acquire state grants and food security. With the need for service increasing daily, Sizanani's staff of 64 caregivers currently service 498 orphans and vulnerable children.
